Salmon River Update 15 October 2015
The Salmon River experienced a major run earlier in the week which helped keep anglers happy all week long. On the Douglaston Salmon Run, many salmon were spotted in the primary channel but also in the secondary channels. A mix of Chinook and Cohos continued filled the stream. Seeing the secondary runs with fish is always a good sign. The major push of fish rippled throughout the whole system. Salmon are starting to begin their egg laying behaviors. More and more steelhead are making their way into the river but in small groups. We have not seen any large groups of Steelheads push through yet. Along with the the Steelhead, many Brown Trout have been caught as well. Some of these Brown Trout have had excellent mass to them. The nasty rainy weather in the beginning of the week truly helped bring fresh fish into the river. Anglers are looking forward to see what the cold weekend does to help the fishery.
