This area’s cold April will extend the Spring Steelhead season into May this year. This year’s snowpack is repeatedly freezing and thawing, causing the Brookfield Dam to offer fishermen what should be a more consistent flow, rather than sporadic flood stages this Spring. The Salmon River Hatchery recently completed their egg harvest but due to the colder temperatures, there are plenty of fish in no hurry to drop back at this time, a plus for fishermen in the coming few weeks as temps begin to rise!
