Western New York Tributaries
Rated one of the best places to fish for Brown Trout by Field and Stream (https://www.fieldandstream.com/10-brown-trout-hotspots-you-need-to-fish), the Western New York Lake Ontario Tributaries also host Steelhead for a fishing adventure of a lifetime. With a big snow melt and great winter fishing we are expecting a fantastic early spring filled with hold-overs and fresh trout. A mix of eggs, nymphs, and streamers combined with little local fishing pressure equals and adventure of a lifetime.
Salmon River
As the water temperature increases from winter meltoff, the Salmon River turns on hot for spring Steelhead. Steelhead are continuously entering the river throughout the late late spring, entering the rivers to spawn. Once the Steelhead complete their spawn, they drop back to the lake and they are hungry and aggressive. The peak spawning time for steelhead occurs from late March to early April and can remain in the river until late May. These Steelhead average between 6 and 10 lbs.
